Cuba says four people were shot dead on US-registered speedboat

Cuban coast guard have killed four crewmembers of a Florida-registered speedboat on Wednesday. Authorities say the vessel refused to comply to identification requests as it violated Cuban waters, and opened fire on Cuban guards.

Cuban border guard have killed four crewmembers of a US registered speedboat on Wednesday after the vessel failed to stop when ordered in Cuban territorial waters, and allegedly opened fire on the police boat.The Cuban Ministry of Interior released a statement noting that six others on the boat were also injured in the exchange of fire. The commander of the Cuban police boat, which carried a total of five people onboard, was also wounded.Authorities stressed that all those injured were immediately taken to safety and received medical treatment.The ministry says the Florida-registered speedboat – registration number FL7726SH – approached the northeast of the El Pino Channel, on Falcones Cay.
